It’s the season of charitable fundraising events for national retailers.
On May 1, Mark’s Work Wearhouse outlets across the country are holding “Clothes That Work for the Cause” events in support of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.
From 5 p.m. until closing that day, when customers spend $65 or more, the company will make a donation of $5 to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.
Officials for the company said the goal is to raise $250,000 in four hours at its 356 stores.
Nine days later, M&M Meat Shops will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs on May 10 all in support of Crohn’s and Colitis Research. It’s the 20th-annual charity barbecue day for the food retailer.
Shop staff, along with volunteers, will be selling a hamburger or a hot dog with a drink and a bag of chips for a minimum donation of $2.50 in an effort to reach the national fundraising goal of $2 million.
