Barrie’s Schmidt and Shaw Auto Sales is holding its first I Believe Sales Event to raise money for the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

For every customer who buys a vehicle in the month of April and chooses an extra-value package, Schmidt and Shaw will donate $200 to RVH for each package purchased.

“Everyone gives away the free jackets and hats or barbecues, during their sales events, but we wanted to do something really different and help people in the community,” said Steve Weston, sales manager at Schmidt and Shaw.

Value packages include financing, extended warrantees and a protection package.

“The RVH and the cancer centre is something I think is on everyone’s mind,” said Weston. “I don’t know anyone that is not touched in some way by cancer. We wanted to help the cause.”

The auto sales shop has already raised $1,600 through the initiative.

“Our goal is to raise money for the RVH and I think we are accomplishing that right now,” said Weston.
