Keep on truckin' may have been Robert Crumb's humorous observation of life on the move in the 1960s, but for Terry Myers, owner of the newly-opened All-Tech Truck Centre, it's a promise to his mobile customers.
"All-Tech is a team of certified, repair service professionals, committed to supporting the trucking industry," says Myers, president of the facility that opened in early February.
"Our focus is keeping our customers on the road. Our commitment is total customer satisfaction, providing expert service whenever and wherever our customers demand."
To back up his words, he says he has mechanics who actually live on site, to be available throughout the night, if a trucker in need calls. And his mobile-service options allow his technicians to go on the road if necessary.
If a truck does need to make a visit to the shop, All-Tech has a towing service available with "the most competitive prices in the area. We recognize what our customers' business is and will do whatever we can - no matter what time of day or what day of week it is - so they're back on the road working," explains Myers.
"We're going to build the business by being the best of breed in the industry."
Excited by the promise his new company is showing - it's already a year ahead of its projected timeline, Myers is quick to give kudos to his three business partners, all of whom are certified truck engine technicians, coming from employment at Peterbilt or CAT service centres.
"Everyone's got a dream here," he says, including his seven employees.
"Everyone is so committed it's beyond joke. And I know that it'll never change."
Located on Highway 11, at the 9th Line of Oro, All-Tech is already servicing 30-40 trucking fleets.
A new roadside sign informs drivers of the new venture, but business also comes by way of Premier Peterbilt, Inc. a Whitby-based dealership who provides them with local referrals.
"I'm their prime partner in this area," confirms Myers.
Acting on a similar word-of-mouth referral, Steve Lehmann , who runs a recycling company with his son, recently began bringing his trucks, trailers and other equipment to All Tech.
"They went out of their way to make sure the work was done on time," says Lehmann of the Orillia-based business SL Marketing. "I'm quite pleased with them and will continue to use them."
On Nov. 1, All-Tech Truck Centre started renovations of a building built recently by TCB Auto Body and Paint owner Albert Enstrom, who is pleased with the development of his property.
"My long-term goal was to turn this place into a truck mall - a one-stop shop where truckers could come to get everything done for their trucks, from mechanical, auto body and paint, sandblasting, polishing and detailing, and anything else."
All-Tech is now the largest of the four businesses operating out of the property.
They are separate entities, says Myers, but work together to provide full service to their customers. Enstrom says he thought he was still about two years away from this point in his business plan when he opened the door to opportunity's knock.
Myers invites truckers to take advantage of the company's grand-opening special. Until May 15, All Tech Truck Centre is offering a free brake adjustment with every service. For more information, call 705-487-0888.
