Politicians and community leaders were on hand to present awards in 10 categories, with a number of Customer Service certificates also being handed out.
Scotiabank was recognized for extraordinary community support and leadership demonstrated by a traditional lending institution in the geographic area of the host municipality.
The Customer Service Award was presented to Weed Man in Innisfil.
The Promotion and Advancement of Literacy Award went to I Can Do It! in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
The New Business Award went to Odette Novielli State Farm in Innisfil.
In the Agricultural category, the award was presented to W.D. Potato Ltd. of New Tecumseth with honourable mentions going to Dingo Farms Ltd. of Bradford West Gwillimbury and Cookstown Greens Inc. of Essa.
The Entrepreneur of The Year Award went to Cool Moose Creamery with ice cream shops in Tottenham and Alliston. An honourable mention went to Steam Country Catering, Events and Promotions also in New Tecumseth.
There were four Quality Awards presented. The Micro Business Award for businesses with one to nine employees went to M&M Country Pet Resort in Adjala-Tosorontio and New Wave Beauty Salon in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Lefroy Harbour Resorts, an Innisfil business, received the Quality Award for Small Business (10 to 24 employees), with an honourable mention to C.W. Coops in Angus.
Alliston Home Building Centre in New Tecumseth won the Quality Award for Medium Business (25 to 74 employees). The Nottawasaga Inn Resort just outside of Alliston won the Quality Award for Large Business (75-plus employees).
The final award of the evening was the Business Excellence Award, which was presented to Nu-Tek Electric, an Essa Township business.
Nottawasaga Futures president Licinio Miguelo said he was particularly pleased with the large number of nominations this year, almost 303. He said all of them were excellent candidates.
"This is indicative of a growing recognition of the awards, but it is also a reflection of South Simcoe's support for members of the business community," he said.
