Last week, Drysdale Tree Farms shipped two, 40-foot Colorado blue spruce to Vancouver, B.C. and Calgary, Alta. for Christmas displays for Shaw Communications, an entertainment and communications company.
Shipping trees around the country isn't new for the local tree farm. In the past, Drysdale has sent trees to the Prime Minister's Office and the Governor General's residence.
For this year's trees going out west, Drysdale is even flying out local workers to set up an decorate the trees.
Doug Drysdale said each tree is going to have about 20,000 LED lights strung on it.
"These trees are lit from the inside out and will look a lot fancier when they're up," said Drysdale.
For local residents wanting to start their holiday decorating, Drysdale said it's not too early. One of the most popular trees sold at the farm is the Fraser fir. Drysdale said the tree doesn't lose its needles, even if it's dried out from neglect.
"More people are coming out earlier to get the tree because they last," said Drysdale.
Drysdale Tree Farms' holiday festivities officially start the weekend of Nov. 22. At the farm, people can cut down their own tree or buy one pre-cut.
The Evergreen Store is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to Friday. Saturdays the store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Drysdale Tree Farm is located at 6635 County Road 56.
