Royal LePage The Beach and Beyond Realty is announcing a merger with two other area real estate agencies and will now go under the name Royal Le Page In Touch Realty Inc. The Beach and Beyond owner George Watson says he has sold the franchise, consisting of 14 agents working out of two offices, but will be staying on as broker and manager of the two Wasaga Beach offices. Watson has sold to Dino Melchior of Royal Le Page First Contact based in Barrie and Don Thorogood of Royal Le Page First Contact based in Midland and Penetanguishene, who will now share joint ownership of In Touch Realty. While the Midland/Penetanguishene agency will come under the In Touch banner, the Barrie agency will remain under the First Contact banner. In total, the group will have about 170 agents working out of about 10 offices, said Watson. Watson, also a municipal councillor in Wasaga Beach, has been working in the real estate business since 1973 but formed his own business in 1995. “In a nutshell it’s a little less responsibility for myself, a little less stress and those things because certain functions like the accounting part will be taken off my hands. It actually frees me up to probably sell more real estate,” said Watson.”I am not slowing down ... To me it is just business as usual, it’s just a new company name, a larger company, more opportunity to grow and that’s how I am looking at it as a real positive.”
