Mayor Tom Walsh and Deputy Mayor Doug Little say that they will stand on their record. Standing on a record that has not considered the residents of the municipality or their needs seems a rather shaky stance.

They have driven the residents of Ballycroy to fight an ill conceived development for six years.

They are foisting development on Colgan, an area that is lacking in water, rurally and in Keenansville, where wells are in peril. For three years Colgan has waited for clean water and are still doing so.

They did not let us know that the two sewage plant proposals for the development in Colgan were rejected by the Ministry of the Environment and the MOE has grave concerns for Keenansville Creek. Yet the council did not inform the public of a meeting in September, with the developers in Colgan, who will get clean reliable water from a new well.

By law, the council wasn't obliged to inform us. They did not even consider the moral or ethical reasons for doing so.

For those same reasons, council gave James Dick the go ahead to put in a golf course without informing the local residents, who were already feeling the effects of the water shortages from the gravel pit. They had been told that 13 homes were going in.

The mayor and council forgot to inform Loretto and Lisle in 2004, that there had been a water problem. They also forgot to inform the public that the Ministry of Environment had fined them, $12,000 for this trivial mishap. Then it took another 10 months to ensure that it would not happen again.

Everett has had playground equipment pulled out, fought battles to protect woodland and is under represented for the population base now and in the future it will be even worse.

How the council or the mayor and deputy mayor could possibly stand on their record is a wonder.

They have cared little for any area of this municipality. The people were kept in the dark while developers got what they wanted. We were of no concern to these people, so why should we vote them back in for a whopping four-year term ?

Do go out on Nov. 13th and vote! Voting is not a right or a privilege, but a duty!

John & Sharon Yovanoff,

Colgan
