Collingwood's new TSC store is talking the talk and walking the walk when it comes to renewable energy.

Their new store on Hume Street has installed a solar array to generate electricity and solar heat collectors to generate hot air and hot water.

And they are making this same technology available to local residents.

Partnering with Solera Sustainable Energies, TSC is offering home evaluation and installation of Renewable Energy Solutions for their customers.

TSC used the launch of its new Collingwood store last week, to highlight renewable energy solutions that are available to rural Canadians. In-house experts Dave Watts, Dave Mondoux, Scott Bennett and Gregory Lang were on hand to demonstrate renewable energy solutions as part of the grand opening events for the store.

"TSC's objective is to work with the communities we operate in and help them become leaders in renewable energy," says Dave Mondoux, Business Analyst for TSC Stores Renewable Energy.

"We want people to be educated and understand all of the economic, environmental and reliability benefits so they can put them to use in their homes, businesses, or farms."

Renewable energy has proven to help people reduce their hydro bill; it is better for the environment and is a reliable source of energy in times of power outages.

"Not only does TSC want to lead by example to show our customers how easy it is to not only achieve the benefits of renewable energy, we also want to start shifting communities towards renewable sources of energy. We all need to commit to changing how we obtain the energy we need," continues Mondoux.

Customers can visit TSC's Renewable Energy website, a link to which is provided to see how much energy the Collingwood store is saving through solar energy by viewing their live online savings chart.

The Alliston location will soon be reaping the benefits of renewable energy as well, with plans to install a solar array identical to the one at the Collingwood store, as well as a wind turbine.

The turbine is expected to generate around 9,000kWh of energy a year- enough to fully offset all the energy needed to power a typical home in Ontario.
