Splash Canyon Water Park and Resort, Ontario’s newest water park, has opened its gates for the summer.

Splash Canyon, located just north of Barrie, includes water slides, a wave pool and more than 180 campsites.

“It’s all about the resort experience here,” said Dan Payne, Splash Canyon’s marketing co-ordinator.

“You can bring the whole family for a getaway at a great campground and amazing water park.”

Splash Canyon includes body flumes, tube rides, a tropical paradise pool and Splash Central a tidal wave pool.

There are also a number of less adventurous water activities for the younger set, including Little Moose Island a children’s water playground. There is also the dryer Ride Rock Canyon adventure playground.

There are a number of restaurants on site, including the Rainbow Bridge Restaurant the Blue Bay BBQ and the Splash Snack Shack.

Splash Canyon also features 187 campsites.

“We have 85 sites booked already for our opening weekend,” Payne said. “These are great campsites, larger than the average site.”

The resort hosts special events for campers including water aerobics, karaoke night, family movie night, live musical entertainment every Saturday night as well as a wine and cheese card game Sunday.

Campsites are available on a daily or seasonal basis.

“This really is the ultimate family camping destination,” Payne said. “You can come for the day to play in the park. You can stay for the night in the campground or camp or spend the whole summer here if you want.”
