The Comfort Inn and Suites on Essa Road was named 2008 Choice Hotels Canadian Hotel of the Year.
The award was handed out at the annual Choice Hotels International annual convention in Las Vegas on May 7.
The hotel beat out more than 270 hotels to claim the prize.
In January, the Barrie hotel was one of 24 hotels to be honoured with the Choice Hotels’ Gold Award for providing an outstanding guest experience.
Three of the gold award-winning hotels were selected as finalists for the hotel of the year prize.
Peer hoteliers chose the winner based on a number of factors including guest service, cleanliness and décor.
The Comfort Inn and Suites is located at 201 Essa Rd. in Barrie.
